Yellow split peas, a common pulses, that are still overlooked and omitted, while making dinner plans, for example. Unless it comes to making a popular pea soup, of course, but even her biggest fans, do not cook it every other day, right? I love this soup and cook it often, especially in winter, but I like to use peas in other culinary purposes. I like the taste of it and the possibilites, that comes with it. So therefore, if you also like those legumes and want to use it in a little bit different way, now it’s your chance ☺.
YELLOW SPLIT PEA CURRY WITH BASIL AND CARROT
The first dish, from my small series, that I prepared for a polish website (it’s all here) is this dense and creamy curry, which is very tasty and very easy to make. Slightly sweet, hot and very creamy. It can be made in two ways. With the use of the cooked peas or should I say, the pea pulp that you get, after cooking it or using uncooked seeds straight from the package. (instructions on how to cook the peas are here).
Peas is combined with chopped carrots which gives the dish a good, matching flavor and some extra texture. I served it with black rice, cause I really like it, but of course you can replace it with any other, favorite type of rice or groats. As for the seasoning, you can use the ready-made curry powder, or compose a similar composition by mixing few spices that I mentioned in the list of ingredients. And the last accent, that makes this meal extra tasty is a big ammount of basil, preferably fresh, cause this form gives this dish that special, final touch ☺
