Snap, the company behind the social media app Snapchat is working on a picture-taking drone, according to a report by the New York Times citing sources briefed on the project. The release of the product is still not certain and no release date has been given.
“We believe that reinventing the camera represents our greatest opportunity to improve the way that people live and communicate,” Evan Spiegel, Snap CEO
If thecamera drone becomes a reality, it would be the company’s second photo-taking product. Last year, Snap came up with Spectacles, sunglasses with an integrated camera which can be used to record 10-second video clips and upload them to Snapchat.
Meanwhile, Snap’s initial public offering (IPO) is scheduled to take place on Thursday and the company is set to be valued at about $25 billion.
